The Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa

The Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa, also called uKhahlamba (the Barrier of Spears), are a 200-kilometre-long mountainous wonderland and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are also the highest mountains in South Africa.

The Sani Pass is called the gateway between the Southern Drakensberg range and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. The route, aptly called the "Roof of Africa", is the highest road in Africa and third highest in the world with peaks at a heady height of 3200m above sea level! Close to the Sani Pass summit, within a couple of kilometres, is the highest peak in South Africa, Thabane Ntlenyana, 3482m high.

Lesotho, affectionately known as the "Mountain Kingdom in the Sky" is one of the few remaining monarchies in Africa. It boasts of a pristine natural beauty and offers an opportunity to explore relics of a pre-historic past.
