Passports Visas for Argentina

  1. Passports./Visas

Although South African, Dutch and Swedish citizens do not need visas to visit Argentina and Peru as tourists, they do need valid passports.

  1. Banks and currency.

The legal currency in Argentina is the "Argentine Peso" (1USA$  = + - 3.9AP$)

The local currency in Peru is the Nuevo Sol (S).  (1USA$ = +- 3S)

Try to get local currency as soon as you get to a country. Taxis, buses and restaurants and stores used by locals some times will not accept foreign currencies. Bigger departmental stores, tourists stores and restaurants will accept brand name credit cards and international currency.

Remember to exchange currency at banks and hotels and beware of false notes at unofficial exchanges.

  1. Tipping:

Restaurants: on average 10% if no service charge is included in the menu.

Taxis: coin change

Hotels: 1 Peso or Sol per baggage for taking luggage to your room.

Tour Guides: own discretion.
